A BOUT of shingles 37 years ago caused one man to stop shaving and ever since then 88-year-old Richard Swindell has had a beard.

But not anymore, after he was sponsored to take the plunge and pick up a razor. Richard went to Ilhams Barbers on Marsh House Lane for a cut-throat shave.

As well as losing his beard he also shaved the years off, with everyone telling him he looks much younger. Richard raised £245 for Risley Independent Methodist Church.
